What you’ll do:
Operations
- Oversee daily non-regulated pharmacy operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and world-class customer service.
- Manage inventory and Alberta Health Vaccine system, including ordering, stocking, and accurate reporting.
- Control costs and monitor financial performance to meet budget objectives and identify growth opportunities.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, and safety standards across all operations.
- Support licensed pharmacists by handling administrative and operational tasks that do not require clinical decision-making or patient care requiring a professional license.
- Manage pharmacy specialty programs (e.g., compounding, blister packaging, mail order, virtual pharmacy, assisted living medication) under the guidance of the licensed Pharmacy Manager, ensuring development, staffing, compliance, and operational efficiency in accordance with Alberta College of Pharmacy regulations.
- Responsible for Home Health Care services, including patient and provider relations, ordering of product, billing of products, training of team members. Work with Pharmacy Manager (licensee) and division manager to increase home health care sales and community visibility.
- Exercise discretion and professional judgment within Co-op policies and provincial/federal regulations to resolve operational issues.
Financial and Business Growth
- Achieve pharmacy financial objectives by managing sales growth, prescription volume, profitability, and expense control.
- Develop and execute business strategies, monitor key financial indicators, and identify opportunities to improve profitability through pricing and cost efficiencies.
- Collaborate on budgeting and forecasting, ensure financial accuracy in transactions, and leverage data to optimize performance and support sustainable growth.
Leadership
- Provide strong leadership and direction to non-regulated pharmacy staff, ensuring compliance with company policies and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and engagement.
- Lead and develop non-regulated pharmacy staff through scheduling, training, and performance management.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and succession planning.
- Promote effective communication, employee recognition, and team development while managing employee relations and maintaining a safe, inclusive work environment.
Who you are:
- Hold a diploma or degree in Business Administration, Management, Commerce, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in retail or healthcare-related environments preferably within paramedical, health products, or non-regulated pharmaceutical operations.
- Ability to successfully complete a criminal background records check prior to employment.
- Ability to complete and successfully pass a pre-employment alcohol and substance test prior to employment.
- Proven leadership experience in managing teams and operational performance within the past 3 years.
- Knowledge of pharmacology, drug safety, and relevant healthcare regulations.
- Knowledge of the Kroll pharmacy system is an asset.
- Leadership and coaching expertise, including strong facilitation, collaboration, influence, and relationship management skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate at all levels in the organization.
- Managerial courage, evidenced by a strong ability to identify and address issues quickly and directly, and provide specific and actionable feedback to others.
- Superior mentoring skills and a demonstrated ability to foster the engagement and development of direct reports, challenge and stretch Team Members in meaningful ways, and build a strong, agile team.
Availability: Monday to Friday 8am to 9pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am to 6pm.
