THE ROLE:
We're searching for a talented and passionate Pre-media Specialist – someone who thrives on pushing boundaries and making a tangible impact. This is an opportunity to dive deep into advanced workflows, becoming the vital link between our valued clients and our cutting-edge production team. Ideal for prepress operators, graphic designers or production artists, you'll master the art of assessing, reporting, and preparing production-ready files for a diverse range of print projects, including graphic outsourcing and web. Your ability to adapt is your greatest strength as you cross-train in digital, litho, large format, and data merge outputs, harnessing powerful automation to propel your technical skills forward. This fast-paced role keeps you at the helm of technology, ensuring every day is exciting and rewarding.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Workflow Automation: Train to learn, understand, and execute an advanced prepress workflow that will set you apart.
- Decipher the specs: Read and perform workflow instructions, advance order specs, and plan requirements, all guided by our robust production schedule.
- Preflight and File Preparation Engage in thorough preflight, file preparation (including PDF exports, formatting, image editing, file fixes to art and die lines) utilizing industry-leading tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Acrobat Professional, and Enfocus Pitstop plugin.
- Production graphics: Conceptualize creative art or production art for clients, or modify agency design files to vendor specifications.
- Ensure flawless execution: Send PDF proofs with thorough preflight reports and production-ready art files to vendors, collaborating seamlessly with our Print Production Specialists (CSRs).
- Impositions: Use required software to impose pages that perfectly match client-supplied layouts, whether for standard templates or the exciting world of Litho, Short Run Digital, Large Format, and Variable Data.
- Problem-solving: Proactively troubleshoot and report any known limitations, ensuring smooth production.
- Quality Assurance: Uphold our unwavering Quality Control processes and standards, meticulously handling data entry for daily time and job logs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Print Experience, minimum of 2 years of graphic production for the print industry.
- Software Knowledge: Strong knowledge and skilled use of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and Microsoft Office.
- Graphic Design: Design and production art experience, with a keen eye for modifying client files frequently.
- Imposition knowledge and experience.
- Ability to follow directions clearly, coupled with excellent communication skills, enabling you to apply job and deadline pressures effectively.
- Demonstrate constant commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and strict deadlines.
- Possess excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, critical thinking, and decisive decision-making skills.
- Ability and willingness to collaborate effectively with co-workers under pressure, individually and as a vital part of a cohesive team.
- A strong sense of urgency and the ability to quickly adapt to and learn new software.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and with an essential grasp of quality consciousness.
AN ASSET, BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- Experience with Esko Automation Engine, Heidelberg Prinect and SignaStation or QuiteImpose.
- Basic Automation architecture.
- Colour theory with the ability to colour adjust.
