One of a network of provincial community health centres, the NorWest Community Health Centres is a community based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services.
We are currently seeking 1 FTE Director of Mental Health and Substance Use, who, in support of the mission, vision and values of the NorWest CHCs, serves as a member of the senior leadership team. The Director is responsible for leadership planning, delivery, evaluation, and supports the facilitation and coordination of the Mental Health and Substance Use Programs offered within the Centres. Areas of program oversight include, but are not limited to; the Homelessness & Addiction Recovery Treatment (HART) Hub, Rapid Access Addictions Medicine (RAAM), Kwae Kii Win Managed Alcohol Program, Mobile Drug Checking Services, and Care Bus.
The position has a competitive salary, the Health Care of Ontario’s Pension Plan and an excellent group health benefits package.
The salary range for this position is $111,321 to 119,369 per year.

Qualifications:
- Masters degree in a related field is preferred and a combination of educational preparation and applicable work experience.
- A minimum of three to five years management experience.
- Broad knowledge in the areas of community health, primary health care, health promotion, addictions, homelessness and harm reduction.
- Experience leading and growing highly effective management team that can respond to organizational and operational needs.
- Ability to collect and analyze data, including familiarity with computer software applications.
- Understanding and experience working in diverse, disadvantaged communities.
- Awareness of and sensitivity to health issues particularly within populations who face barriers to accessing care (under housed, living with mental health challenges or diagnoses, current or past substance use, complex health histories, 2SLGBTQIA+, newcomers, non-insured).
- Understanding and interest in current issues in health, including health reform.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic direction.
- Experience working within an interdisciplinary team environment.
- Experience leading and supporting effective team planning.
- Ability to develop and nurture strategic partnerships.
- Experience with collective bargaining and managing a unionized environment.
- Excellent organizational, oral and written communication and time management skills.
- Ability to provide leadership in the absence of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
- A vehicle and valid driver’s license are required.
