Position Description Longbow has the opportunity to add an intern to its investment team. We are recruiting a talented pragmatic, high-agency individual who would like to work with a dedicated group of professionals that has considerable experience in mergers and acquisitions, investing, finance, and strategy.
As a member of the investment team, the successful candidate will assist in the evaluation of future investment opportunities and work with Longbow’s current portfolio companies on financial integration initiatives, growth initiatives, and corporate strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing financial and operational analysis and conducting due diligence to support these initiatives. As part of Longbow’s investment decision process, the successful candidate will synthesize and draw clear insights from qualitative and quantitative analysis and incorporate key learnings into investment recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and analysis into a variety of investment opportunities for Longbow and support key due diligence work streams;
- Provide analytical support, problem solving, and opportunity identification for existing portfolio companies;
- Screen and prioritize deal flow by participating in company pitches and conducting initial analysis (strategic fit, industry/sector, competition, among others);
- Prepare financial models, analyses and presentations for internal and external purposes; and
- Support the investment and operational team in a multitude of ways to maximize the effectiveness of the firm.
Skills And Qualifications Required
- 3rd or 4th year of university, pursuing a degree relevant to private capital markets or the energy transition (business, engineering, law, STEM, etc.);
- An interest in private equity, growth equity and investing;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Basic accounting knowledge and some experience evaluating financial statements;
- Resourceful, diligent and high agency, with a desire to find solutions to complex problems;
- Strong team orientation balanced with the ability to work autonomously on projects and initiatives;
- High degree of motivation and the ability to work hard;
- Exceptionally high level of focus on quality of work and attention to detail;
- Incredibly strong sense of integrity and personal accountability; and
- Past internships experience in relevant fields (preferred).
