There is an ongoing need for Senior Strategic Advisors in the Office of the Treasury Board. This posting will stay open until June 19, 2026 or until all positions have been filled.

With this unique opportunity, you will support the development, analysis and implementation of provincial policies and programs. This fast-paced position provides a direct line-of-sight into the government decision-making process and an exciting challenge to play a key role in shaping the province's fiscal strategy.

About the job

You will:
.- Provide advice to Treasury Board/Management Board of Cabinet (TB/MBC), the Minister, the Deputy Minister and executive management on strategic business, fiscal/financial, policy and planning initiatives.

  • Develop partnerships and consult with stakeholders on a range of projects and initiatives.
  • Support strategic planning by developing financial and written input for the annual provincial budget and other public documents.
  • Negotiate and resolve issues on the interpretation and analysis of business plans, reports and submissions.
  • Analyze major policy issues and assess the impact of initiatives.
  • Prepare, coordinate and present a range of briefing materials to facilitate decision-making.

  • You can develop and maintain positive working relationships with a variety of contacts and stakeholders.
  • You have excellent communication and consultation skills to present options and advice.
  • You have consensus-building and negotiation skills to gain support for initiatives and develop coordinated approaches to resolve issues.
  • You can prepare and present key documents such as Cabinet submissions, financial reports and briefing materials.

Leadership and Project Management Skills:

  • You have effective leadership and project management skills to provide guidance and coaching to project teams in the development of initiatives and programs.
  • You can lead work and mentor/support other staff.
  • You have organizational skills to work in an environment of tight time pressures, shifting deadlines and competing priorities.

Analytical, Problem Solving, and Research Skills:

  • You have knowledge of research and quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques.
  • You have advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze policies and programs.
  • You have knowledge of analytical techniques to review, synthesize and conduct in-depth analysis of complex material.

Issues Management, Risk Assessment and Decision-Making Skills:

  • You have excellent issues management, risk assessment and decision-making skills to provide sound strategic policy advice and economic analysis.
  • You can understand government strategic directions to ensure that ministry business objectives and the provincial agenda are effectively considered in the development/evaluation of policy.

Technical Knowledge:

  • You have knowledge of the theory, principles and methodologies of economics, public finance and/or business administration.
  • You have knowledge of policy and program development principles/techniques.
  • You can interpret and apply legislation, regulations, directives, standards, practices and government strategic direction.
  • You understand government decision-making processes.

Computer Proficiency:

  • You have knowledge of systems, software and network-based programs to prepare various reports, presentations, correspondence and briefing materials.
