About the role

This position will provide the leadership to effectively lead all plant production and related operations in a manner to achieve maximum production and operating efficiencies within safety, quality, service and cost standards. The production manager will be responsible for the production team’s performance; and will also be accountable for maintaining the applicable standards in the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate production requirements
  • Analyze productions down time finding the root cause; initiate corrective action with management team members
  • Maintains a consistent approach to driving process and performance enhancements
  • Provide an accident-free workplace while maintaining status as a preferred supplier of quality products and service with a goal of excellent reliability
  • Models company Vision This position will provide the leadership to effectively lead all plant production and related operations in a manner to achieve maximum production and operating efficiencies within safety, quality, service and cost standards. The production manager will be responsible for the production team’s performance; and will also be accountable for maintaining the applicable standards in the plant., Mission and Values, ensuring employees model the same
  • Regularly reviews performance data and identifies gaps relevant to the team
  • Assures good housekeeping practices through auditing, enforces plant rules and safety regulations
  • Coordinates production to meet customer demands
  • Ensure production is ready for shipping schedule
  • Work closely with maintenance department for production support & repair work
  • Ensures department employees are properly trained, and their skills are regularly assessed to ensure developmental needs are addressed utilizing gap analysis from skills matrices and tailored training programs
  • Provide coaching/mentoring and communicates performance expectations and reviews to production staff
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as needed and/or requested by management

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three to four years of direct supervisory experience
  • Six to eight years of working in an industrial production-manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, industrial management or similar discipline, or six (6) years of equivalent training and experience that provides a comprehensive working knowledge of the laws, regulations, practices and procedures of a lean manufacturing operation may be substituted for a degree
  • Ability to provide leadership and innovation at all levels of the organization, utilizing differing styles of management; from directive, to coaching and support, through delegation, as the situation arises
  • Change management and conflict management skills
  • Strong communication skills, results driven, flexible and open minded
  • Knowledge of plastic extrusion would be considered an asset

Working Conditions:

Works in a manufacturing plant environment with limited HVAC, concrete floors, and exposure to industrial noise, dust, chemicals and temperature changes. Normal plant operation is 24 hours, 7 days a week and work hours may vary depending on business needs. May require long hours, and weekend and holiday work. May require travel by air and rental cars
