Contract Position: Instructor, Nursing & Allied Health (Clinical)

The Opportunity
Keyano College’s School of Health and Human Services is currently seeking Contract Clinical Instructors for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Practical Nurse program.
The Keyano Contract Clinical Instructor will support the academic teaching mission of the department by supervising, instructing, and evaluating students in clinical settings. This role bridges theory and practice, helping students apply classroom learning to real-world, patient care environments.
Clinical rotations are for 6-week periods and include 8/10/12 hour shifts which may include days evenings and weekends
Note: this is not a remote or hybrid work opportunity, you will be required to work on campus and relocate to Fort McMurray, AB.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide clinical instruction and supervision of students in assigned placements (Medicine, Surgery, Maternity, Long-term Care & Mental Health Unit).
- Develop and maintain clinical learning plans and objectives consistent with program outcomes.
- Conduct pre clinical briefings and post clinical debriefings / conferences with students.
- Evaluate and assess student performance in the clinical environment using established criteria and provide constructive feedback.
- Grade assignments, clinical logs, reports, concept maps/ care plans, and other assessments.
- Collaborate with clinical staff, preceptors, and partner agencies to coordinate student experiences.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, incidents, and evaluations.
- Participate in orientation, training, and continuing professional development activities related to clinical instruction.
- Promote best practices, professional standards, and safety protocols in clinical settings.
- Address student concerns, support learning needs, and intervene when remedial action is required.
- Uphold institutional policies, quality assurance processes, and accreditation requirements.
Qualifications

Professional licensure / registration (e.g. CRNA, CLPNA) in good standing.

Minimum clinical experience (e.g. 3–5 years) in relevant specialty areas

Experience mentoring or teaching students in clinical settings.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Familiarity with clinical documentation, electronic health records, and standard health care practices. Connect Care training will be provided if necessary.

Previous post- secondary teaching or instructional experience/ experience with simulation labs would be considered an asset.

Please note: Clinical experience is considered an asset, however orientation and training to clinical units will be provided.
Please note that if your education was received internationally, upon hire we will require you to provide an international education assessment completed through WES, IQAS or one of the other IRCC approved designated organization.
