About the role

Job Description

Reporting to the Manager of the Food Service Department and/or designate, the primary purpose of this position is to assemble trays, serve food and nourishments, clean up after meal service while maintaining clean, sanitary and safe environments in all facilities areas operated by Aramark at Labrador West Health Center.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares or serves beverages, snacks, and meals for patients/residents/customers including, but not limited to, preparing ingredients, special dietary food items, main menu courses, and catering to functions or groups within the organization
  • Cleans and peels vegetables
  • Cleans, sanitizes, and stocks kitchenettes, specific food stations, and/or other food service areas
  • Assembles meal trays for residents/patients by working at specific food stations
  • Distributes and collects food trays to and from floors
  • Cleans, replenishes work area(s)/restock materials (i.e. clean dishes, equipment, utensils, trays, trolleys, tables, chairs, counters, and refrigerators)
  • Scrapes, unloads, and cleans meal trays
  • Rolls silverware
  • May provide snacks after hours
  • May operate a cash register
  • May set up catering for specific areas and assist in preparing food items for special events
  • May prepare diet change reports based on patient/resident admissions and discharges
  • May stock groceries on shelves and refrigerators, inspect goods, and rotate stock
  • Other replated duties as required

Qualifications

  • 1+ years Kitchen Help, Food Service, or Prep Cook experience
  • Valid WHMIS and Food Safe (Basic or Advanced), First Aid Certification is an asset
  • Knowledge of and commitment to upholding high standards of food safety and hygiene
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently supervised and unsupervised
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine desire to provide outstanding customer service
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth operations

Successful candidates must complete and pass a Code of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check to be hired.

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

This is a part-time, call-in position with opportunity to earn full time hours. This is a union position with United Steel Workers.
