The project:
The role is responsible for an assigned area of asset class responsibility and provides technical support to the rapid transit Engineering & Asset Management (EAM) asset class discipline engineering lead for a particular transit system (E.g. GO, LRT or Subways).
The role is responsible to verify compliance with requisite engineering and other technical requirements, provides oversight of technical work performed under various contract arrangements and undertakes field inspections, condition assessments including the development of strategies for preventative and/or remediation work necessary to correct asset defects.
The role coordinates, oversees and implements risk-based assurance and audit programs for the assigned asset class discipline asset base and is responsible for the development of, and compliance with, technical and standards, specifications and other requirements for the asset class discipline within the assigned area of responsibility.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a Canadian track engineering team delivering major transit projects.
- Provide senior technical leadership across track planning, design, delivery, testing and commissioning.
- Act as Project Manager or senior technical lead with accountability for scope, programme, budget, quality and safety.
- Lead client relationships and act as the primary technical point of contact for track matters.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards, legislation, regulations and best practice.
- Coordinate track design and delivery with multidisciplinary interfaces including structures, signalling, traction power, civil, drainage and utilities.
- Provide hands-on senior engineering input, including critical track engineering works as required.
- Lead risk, assurance and safety processes, including HAZOP, RAMS, SiD, IDR and systems engineering.
- Oversee design reviews, site inspections and asset condition assessments, developing remedial strategies where required.
- Manage and assure the performance of internal teams, consultants, contractors and suppliers.
- Lead testing, commissioning, audits and contract administration, including cost and change control.
- Drive continuous improvement, support business development, and represent the track engineering discipline internally and externally.
Experience and Qualifications
- Recognised expert in rail track design, delivery and assurance processes.
- Demonstrable international rail experience across complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
- Strong understanding of technical scope change management and disruption mitigation strategies.
- Sound knowledge of quality assurance, independent assessment and safety case processes.
- Strong capability in CDM, risk assessment and engineering management.
- Degree-qualified in engineering (rail or related discipline), or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Clean criminal record
