About the role

The Chemong Family Health Organization (FHO) is located in the heart of Kawartha cottage country and is currently seeking both full-time and part-time Family Physicians to join our collaborative and supportive medical team.

The Morton Medical Centre in Lakefield is home to six full-time and one part-time physician, while the Chemong Medical Centre in Bridgenorth has three full-time physicians. In total, our FHO includes ten dedicated family physicians who work together under a formal governance agreement promoting flexibility and a strong sense of professional support. Each physician operates independently as a business owner, managing their own clinic costs and overhead, while benefiting from a shared model of care and resources.

Our physicians’ benefit from a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment that includes access to three mental health clinicians, a pharmacist, a dietitian, nurses, and a phlebotomist. We maintain organized extended hours coverage to meet provincial requirements, helping to ensure comprehensive care while balancing workloads.

About Peterborough Family Health Team

Hospitals and Health Care
11-50

Founded at the turn of the millennium, Peterborough Family Health Team (PFHT) supports the primary health care sector in Peterborough City and County. As one of the largest Family Health Teams in Ontario, the organization works with over 100 primary care physicians providing comprehensive care to their patients. Collectively, we have over 100 inter-professional healthcare providers, comprised of: mental health clinicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, a physician assistant, registered dietitians, registered nurses and registered practical nurses.

In addition to one-on-one care, PFHT administers many programs, services, and workshops as a means to redirect patients from the providers practice to a more focused area of care. This approach increases capacity at the practice level while providing patients with an opportunity to learn how to manage their health. These programs, workshops, and services are offered at no charge and derive from irrefutable patterns displayed in the perpetual symptoms patients present.

PFHT is a Queen's residency site, allowing our primary care physicians to have the chance to teach new physicians. As Peterborough has a robust medical community, the PGY1s and PGY2s have the opportunity to not only work in primary care but also in emergency care, palliative care, sports medicine, subacute care and so much more.
