About the job
In this role, you will:
- help run and improve the ministry's Pavement Management System (PMS2).
- offer expert advice on pavement evaluation and management to ministry staff.
- review programs and policies to ensure they are effective and up to date.
- explore new products, suppliers, and methods to boost cost-efficiency in construction and repairs.
- support the development of systems for better pavement design, construction, and maintenance.
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
- you are a Professional Engineer, licensed with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
- you possess a valid 'G' driver's license or equivalent as recognized by the province of Ontario
Pavement Engineering Knowledge
- you have knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of pavement management, evaluation, design, construction, rehabilitation and preservation to provide expertise and advice.
- you have knowledge of highway construction practices and engineering materials related to highway pavement design and construction to ensure compliance to policies, standards and operating guidelines.
Data Analysis and Project Management
- you have demonstrated analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills in pavement management database and systems, pavement contract documents and complex engineering problems.
- you have planning, coordination and project management skills in order to coordinate field evaluation projects.
Leadership and Communication Skills
- you can provide technical supervision and technical leadership to technicians, engineers and consultants on a project specific basis.
- you can use interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships.
- you can provide sound engineering advice and guidance, and provide technical training and presentations.
- you can develop and write formal specifications, technical reports, manuals and procedures.
- you can develop and prepare training materials.
