*We are excited to be recruiting for an experienced Banquet Cook for amazing property, the Norwood Hotel. *Shifts will primarily be scheduled during evenings and weekends, in alignment with the hotel?s banquet and event calendar.
The Norwood Hotel has always been an innovative leader in the hotel industry. The Norwood Hotel has an interesting and diverse history dating back to the latter part of the 1800?s. The earliest records available indicate a photograph of the hotel in 1895. In 1937, the Hotel came under the ownership of the late Merle Sparrow and has been operated by the Sparrow family ever since. This longevity in ownership makes the Norwood the oldest operated family hotel in Manitoba and one, if not the oldest in all of Western Canada.
Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Banquet Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality meals for large banquet events, ensuring all dishes meet our standards for taste, presentation, and food safety. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, providing exceptional food service for various events and functions. The Banquet Cook will collaborate with the kitchen staff to deliver memorable dining experiences and uphold the reputation of our establishment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to banquet menus and specifications
- Assist with food preparation, including chopping, portioning, and assembling ingredients
- Ensure all food is cooked to proper temperature and presented attractively
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety standards
- Follow proper food handling procedures to prevent cross-contamination and ensure hygiene
- Serve plated meals efficiently during banquet events, ensuring timely delivery to guests
- Collaborate with servers and event staff to coordinate meal service
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate needs for restocking
- Adhere to all safety regulations and sanitation practices within the kitchen environment
Experience
- At least 2 years of previous Kitchen experience required, especially within a catering setting
- Knowledge of food handling procedures and safety standards in the food industry
- Experience with meal preparation for large groups or banquet events is a plus
- Familiarity with serving techniques and presentation standards in a hospitality environment
- Kitchen experience demonstrating proficiency in cooking techniques and food safety practices

Pay: $16.50-$17.50 per hour
