About the Position
The Manager, Workplace Health and Well-being Strategies, is responsible for managing a comprehensive portfolio of programs and strategic workplace well-being initiatives that foster employee engagement, recognition, and well-being across the institution and contribute to a healthy & safe workplace culture. This position involves collaboration with leaders, employees, and external partners to ensure innovative and integrated approaches align with institutional priorities and leading frameworks to enhance employee experience and overall well-being. This position reinforces inclusive excellence while driving the University's workplace mental health, psychological safety, and well-being initiatives.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Employee & Workplace Well-being, this role operates within the Employee & Workplace Well-being Centre of Expertise and collaborates closely with the Manager, Employee Health & Well-being to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to employee well-being
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, coordination, and delivery of engagement, recognition, and well‑being initiatives across the institution.
- Develop project plans, manage budgets, and monitor program performance using data and KPIs.
- Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to support a psychologically safe and engaged workplace.
- Oversee employee committees, ambassador groups, and facilitators supporting well‑being culture.
- Ensure programs meet accessibility standards and align with university values and policies.
- Support policy development, standard operating procedures, and compliance with legislation and collective agreements.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance support to team members.
Qualifications:

University degree in human resources, business, organizational development, community development, health promotion, or related field; a master’s degree is an asset.

Certifications in project management and/or process improvement (e.g., Lean Six Sigma) required; CHRL designation an asset.

Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a related field, preferably in organizational health in a university environment.

Strong knowledge of workplace well‑being frameworks, psychological health and safety standards, and relevant legislation.

Exceptional interpersonal, facilitation, conflict‑resolution, and communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to lead programs and teams in a complex, decentralized environment.

Proven capacity to manage multiple priorities, build relationships, and navigate change with flexibility and professionalism

The posted hiring range represents McMaster's typical hiring range for this position. Actual starting salary will depend on factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, internal equity, and market conditions.
Individuals with extensive experience, deep specialized expertise, and/or those who can demonstrate exceptional past performance, as applicable, may be hired at a higher rate within the full range, in accordance with the University compensation policies.
