Your Opportunity
We are seeking an Environmental Professional with a focus on contaminated sites to join our growing Alberta Site Investigation and Remediation (SIR) team. This office-based position will focus on Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) including coordinating field and reporting tasks, ensuring client deliverables are completed consistently, timely and are of high quality. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of SIR projects across Alberta.
Under the leadership of outstanding project managers, this opportunity allows you to be a part of a cohesive and highly skilled team of environmental professionals.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Promote a strong health and safety culture and actively participate in Stantec’s Health and Safety Program
- Create and lead a positive safety culture on all projects
- Work with Project Managers to develop proposals including budget and scope of work
- Create field instructions and coordinate field work with Stantec staff and subcontractors
- Conduct searches related to Phase I ESAs
- Compile and prepare field data from a variety of SIR field tasks including but not limited to, Phase I and II ESAs, environmental monitoring programs, and other remediation activities
- Organize and track report deliverables for multiple projects
- Write and/or peer review technical reports including (but not limited to) Phase I and Phase II ESAs, Remedial Action Plans (RAP), and Ongoing Environmental Monitoring and Risk Management plans (RMP).
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Dedicated to working safely within established procedures and protocols
- Have practical knowledge of: Alberta Contaminated Sites Policy Framework, Alberta Tier 1 and Tier 2 Soil and Groundwater Remediation Guidelines, Alberta Environmental Site Assessment Standard
- Experience writing Canadian Standards Association Phase I ESAs
- Experience with software such as OpenGround, EQUIS, ArcGIS FieldMaps and other ArcGIS applications is an asset
- Experience with SCRIVA by ERIS is an asset
- Experience with upstream oil and gas Ph I ESAs is an asset
- Proficient with standard productivity software including all MSOffice products
- Adaptability, organization, critical thinking, self-motivation, a keen willingness to learn, attention to detail, succinct writing ability, and ability to multitask
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to balance multiple competing priorities
- Able to obtain federal reliability security clearance
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in environmental engineering, geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years in Site Investigation and Remediation (or a related field) work either in a field or office type role
- Prior experience in an engineering or consulting environment is an asset.
This position will involve working in a typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods. Evening and weekend work may be required.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
