The 6500 system is the flagship product of Ciena’s Packet Optical Transport Portfolio. Optical networks continue to aggressively move towards Layer 0/1/2 converged infrastructures. Join the 6500 team delivering these Optical Ethernet Network solutions:

In this role, you will be a member of a software design team developing and testing features for the 6500 system.
Responsibilities:
In this role we are looking for an experienced software test engineer to join the software design team as an integration test engineer. The primary responsibility is to act as a bridge between the software designers and product verification engineers and ensure that new features are tested well by the design team before product verification starts. This requires the ability to understand the feature requirements and the software architecture and design as well as to be able to help debug issues as software components are initially integrated together and tested. In this role you will:
- Understand feature and system requirements
- Understand the high level SW design
- Build the networks required to test features
- Execute test cases
- Record test case results
- Document problems found
- Work with designers to reproduce and characterize issues and to test the fixes
- Work closely with software and firmware designers
- Work with the product verification team as they start product testing
Required Experience:
- BSc, BSc Eng or equivalent.
- Experience testing software in an embedded system
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge of optical network design
- Knowledge of optical testsets
- Python
- Test automation
Pay Range:
The salary range for this role in Canada is $93, 600 - $149, 400
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
