About the role
Job Description AAA Canada is looking for a Professional, Engineering - Avionics Systems. You will contribute to the development, testing, certification, production, and in-service support of state-of-the-art business aircraft. You will play a key role in ensuring that avionics systems meet safety, certification, and performance objectives while being seamlessly integrated into the overall aircraft architecture.You will work closely with suppliers, cross-functional teams, and certification authorities to deliver high-quality, compliant, and reliable avionics solutions.
Responsibilities
- Define and manage overall systems and subsystems requirements to ensure compliance with safety, certification, and aircraft design objectives.
- Collaborate with system suppliers, interfacing suppliers, and other engineering disciplines to ensure smooth system integration into the aircraft.
- Lead the timely integration of avionics systems such as:
- Automatic Flight Control Systems (AFCS)
- Communications (VHF, HF, SATCOM, Datalink)
- Navigation (ADF, VOR, ILS, DME, TCAS, Transponder, IRS, GPS, FMS, Weather Radar)
- Displays (EFIS, EICAS, HUD, SVS)
- Information, Maintenance & Recording systems (IMS, OMS, Data Loading, CVR, FDR, AHMS)
- Cabin connectivity solutions
- Write, conduct, or witness development and certification tests on aircraft or test rigs.
- Review, analyze, and approve test results to ensure compliance and traceability.
- Conduct and support ARP4754-based system and aircraft verification and validation activities.
- Manage, review, and approve deliverables from Avionics System Suppliers.
- Liaise with Certifying Authorities and support delegates to achieve system certification.
- Provide technical support to the Final Assembly Line and in-service operations for design-related issues, ensuring timely resolution.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of tools and processes that enhance team performance and organizational efficiency.
- Participate in the development and customization of software for crew alerting logic, synoptic pages, I/O configuration in IMA environments, and automation of aircraft-level functions.
Skills And Qualifications
- A university degree in Electrical, Electronics, Software, or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience levels ranging from junior (5 years) to senior engineer positions.
- Strong knowledge of Avionics Systems and their integration within the overall aircraft.
- Experience with the specification, design, integration, testing, and certification of avionics systems.
- Familiarity with Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) systems (asset).
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards such as DO-178, DO-160, DO-254, and ARP4754 (asset).
- Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to travel as required.
