As the Talent Acquisition student, you work closely with an appointed mentor and the broader Talent Acquisition team to support recruitment activities across the business. This role offers hands-on exposure to recruitment events, labor market research, competitive benchmarking, and employer branding, while applying industry-leading talent acquisition practices to build a well-rounded foundation in the field. The student also analyzes recruiting metrics and trends, contributing insights and recommendations that support continuous improvement across Talent Acquisition programs. This role suits an energetic self-starter with a strong work ethic and a genuine willingness to learn. Note: This is a 12-month term commencing on August 31, 2026. The employee will be expected to report to work in person at the WestJet Campus in Calgary.

Key deliverables include: Support recruitment events and hiring campaigns by coordinating logistics, materials, and on-site engagement Develop a comprehensive understanding of key talent segments to inform more targeted, effective hiring strategies Benchmark competitor recruiting practices and identify opportunities for differentiation Research talent acquisition trends and recommend practices relevant to WestJet Partner with the Lead, Talent Acquisition & Programs (Corporate) to share student insights and recommend program improvements from a student perspective Interview employees and develop spotlight stories that support employer branding Create social media content that supports recruiting and employer brand campaigns General TA support as required Experience and qualifications: Currently enrolled in a diploma or degree program in Human Resources, Human Resource Management or a related field Ability to apply academic learning to a professional work environment Excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills required. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Excellent analytical, problem solving, goal orientation, and relationship building skills. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to present ideas, negotiate, facilitate and problem solve. Team player – works to ensure team goals are met or exceeded. Exceptional attention to detail. Demonstrate sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters. Must provide high level of customer service to internal and external guests.
