What we offer

The Senior Cost Accountant is an opportunity for a strategic, detail-oriented professional with deep experience in advanced manufacturing to influence key decisions for an exciting start-up. The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for overseeing the cost management function for SAMI’s manufacturing facilities. This role manages costing and inventory processes and provides actionable insights to support operational efficiency and margin improvement. The position plays a critical role in supporting the implementation and operation of our ERP, plant operations, and strategic decision-making in a complex manufacturing environment.

This role will play a key role in building something new. It offers the opportunity to take ownership early on, work closely with management and grow both professionally and personally.

What you’ll do

Cost Accounting & Analysis

  • Lead the end-to-end cost accounting process, including analysis of actual production costs, labor, overhead, and material utilization.
  • Design, maintain, and enhance costing methodologies, inventory valuation practices, and WIP tracking systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Review, reconcile, and analyze cost variances (material usage, labor efficiency, overhead absorption), identify root causes, and deliver actionable insights to Operations and FP&A.
  • Ensure accurate inventory reconciliation and monitor material allocations across equipment and project levels.
  • Partner with Operations to evaluate production performance, scrap, yield, and efficiency metrics, translating operational data into meaningful financial insights.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning with detailed cost and operational analysis.
  • Collaborate with FP&A and VP Finance to provide precise costing inputs for reporting, pricing strategies, and margin analysis.
  • Oversee material adjustments, assist with external audits, and perform additional tasks to strengthen finance and operations alignment.

ERP Implementation & Reporting

  • Act as the finance functional lead for ERP (Odoo), defining requirements, validating data integrity, and supporting UAT and cutover activities.
  • Deliver accurate and timely reporting, ensuring system outputs align with business needs.

  • Perform other duties as required to support organizational objectives.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing cost accounting, including job costing, inventory accounting, and variance analysis.
  • Experience in advanced manufacturing environments with complex product lines.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical skills, able to provide actionable insights from complex data.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with operations, plant leadership, and senior management.
  • Sound judgment, with the ability to critically analyze situations, problem-solve, and deal with ambiguity.
  • Strong customer focus with excellent communication skills, relationship building and a collaborative working style.
  • Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and personal integrity.
  • Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills.

Bonus Points

  • CPA Designation preferred
  • Experience with ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises).
  • Previous experience with Odoo preferred
