Advance Paper Box Ltd is looking for a Mechanic to join our team, who will be responsible for ensuring that machinery and equipment operate efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes initiative to resolve problems quickly and professionally.
Advance Paper Box is a fully integrated folding carton manufacturing facility, including design, die making, printing, die-cutting, and gluing. Our customers range from food and pharmaceutical manufacturers to computer software and automotive supply companies. Shift: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Location: 105 Panet Rd, Winnipeg, MB R2J 0S1
Your Day-to-Day
- Ensure that the operating equipment is thoroughly inspected and perform preventative maintenance on a routine basis.
- Ensure that all safety devices are in place and functional.
- Apply technical skills to troubleshoot breakdowns and make the necessary repairs on time.
- Interpret blueprints and plans, attend meetings, and complete requisitions for parts and supplies.
- Regularly communicate with shift supervisors and machine operators regarding the status of equipment
- Install, maintain, repair, service, and troubleshoot/diagnose packaging-related equipment.
- Conduct preventative maintenance programs.
- Perform equipment adjustments and repairs as required.
- Install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools, and measuring devices.
- Analyze equipment downtime, determine root cause, and recommend countermeasures.
- Work closely with production to resolve equipment issues/Panel Repairs.
- Programmable logic controls, motors and controls, generators and VFDs.
- Maintain accurate records of all service, repair, and other work and follow company regulations for Quality certification.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Experience in the printing and packaging industry is considered an asset.
- Minimum 1-2 years of related work experience in a manufacturing environment.
- A sound working knowledge of industry practices, codes, and safety standards.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to perform basic machining.
- Must have a strong PLC background.
