Job Summary Reporting to theSr. Director, Infrastructure and Service Management, the Enterprise Data Architect is responsible for leading the development of cross-domain solutions for business and IT projects. In addition to leading projects, the Enterprise Architect is responsible for setting direction, researching emerging technologies and defining/realizing governance policies globally.

The Enterprise Architect will collaborate with GIS and Business teams drafting/reviewing requests for design, solutioning and impact to overall business architecture. Bring thought leadership and innovation in enterprise architecture into Apotex as part of the continuous improvement process

The Enterprise Architect is part of the Infrastructure and Service Management team whose missions are to ensure coherence of our technical solutions, continuously improve our technical environment and IT team and foster communications between IT teams and projects.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver long-term strategic goals for architecture vision and standards in conjunction with users, department managers, GIS, and other key stakeholders.
  • Create short-term tactical solutions to achieve long-term objectives and an overall infrastructure management roadmap.
  • Collaborates with other Architects, Service Portfolio Leads, and GIS teams on the development of area roadmaps and integrates into the overall Architecture roadmap.
  • Translates business requirements into scalable System/Solution Designs and Technical Specifications via Proofs of Concept, Demos and Functional Prototypes, and leading Delivery teams.
  • Defines standards for naming, describing, governing, managing, modelling, cleansing, enriching, transforming, moving, storing, securing, searching and delivering data within the enterprise
  • Creates logical and physical designs for systems and management capabilities (full-lifecycle)
  • tays on top of innovation, evaluates platforms and solutions for inclusion into the architecture standard and roadmaps
  • Documents and defines processes, eliminating activities that don't add value through process analysis redesign
  • Defines, socializes and supports implementation of System Architecture
  • The ability to communicate complex issues to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Reviews projects for impact and compliance
  • Identifies and maintains an up to date picture of organization and industry opportunities and risks
  • Participate in research, development, testing and production support activities as relevant
  • Prepare and present recommendations to GIS and Business Leadership teams as required
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with common and emerging system protection and system security principles
  • Works in a safe manner, collaborating as a team member to achieve all outcomes

Job Requirements

  • Education and Experience

  • University or College Degree or equivalent experience

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven track record for working effectively with technical and business functions

  • Advanced understanding of Enterprise architecture concepts, patterns and standards

  • Proven project delivery experience

  • Understanding of software development lifecycle

  • Strong analytical skills required in identifying problems, validating and making recommendations

  • Excellent documentation skills

  • Advanced, concise and clear written and verbal communication skills in a variety of settings and styles

  • Excellent listening skills with ability to follow instructions and guidelines clearly

  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions, solve and troubleshoot problems based on analysis, experience and judgement

  • Demonstrated ability to originate or initiate new and unique ideas to business/technical problems

  • Proven ability to function in a fast paced and continuously changing environment

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities to accomplish objectives and goals anticipating and adjusting for problems and interruptions/roadblocks

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Good presentation skills in a variety of settings with business or technical users in small and large groups

  • Experience delivering training and/or creating training materials on business or technical topics

  • High degree of commitment and demonstrated ability to continuous learning and improvement

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in technology delivery or design capability with exposure to enterprise or solution architecture proceses and activities
