About the role
Position Overview
Operate washing and drying machines to wash/dry industrial or household garments such as clothing, linen, blankets, draperies, etc. Sort resident clothes/belongings on carts for daily delivery. Label clothing following facility procedure and maintain a catalogue of the information.
Experience
- A minimum of 1 (one) year previous experience working as a laundry aide in an institutional, commercial or health care facility will be considered.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Training will be provided.

Qualifications and Skills
- Working knowledge of applicable sanitation and safety standards related to the department.
- To assist in the provision and maintenance of a high quality, hygienic and customer responsive service by providing laundry service duties for the residents of the home.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in English; both orally and in writing.
Physical Requirements
- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving of body bending, lifting, balancing, walking and stooping.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
Interviewed candidates may be called upon to participate in a skills assessment.
