Are you looking for a role that will provide you with new challenges and opportunities? In this role, you will be the Senior Development Engineering Lead who is responsible for leading the initial development of large refinery projects and supporting the planning and execution from concept selection through to implementation. This role ensures that projects are technically sound, economically viable, and aligned with the company’s strategic objectives. The Lead will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage stakeholders, and oversee project development activities, including feasibility studies, engineering, cost estimation, and risk management. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving project success and delivering value to the organization through effective leadership and project development expertise

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the initial development phase of refinery projects, encompassing new conceptual designs, equipment upgrades and modifications, as well as integration initiatives that enhance connectivity and value across refining and related operations
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including engineering, operations, commercial, finance, and regulatory teams
  • Ensure all project development activities comply with company standards, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare and present project proposals and business cases to senior management and decision-making committees
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks throughout the development phase.
  • Lead technical and economic evaluations, including process selection, technology assessment, and cost-benefit analysis
  • Mentor and develop junior process engineers and team members

Minimum Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 7-10 years of experience, oil and gas preferred
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO)
  • Strong knowledge of refining processes, technologies, and industry standards.
  • Experience with project development methodologies, stage-gate processes, and investment decision frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Location and other Key Details:

  • The position is located out of our Sarnia Refinery Office, located at 1900 St. Clair Parkway, Sarnia Ontario.
  • This position follows a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday. Some extended hours may be required to meet project deadlines or business needs.
