The AML Analyst Intern supports the Bank’s AMLTF Program team by providing direct support to the Lead Advisor, AMLTF Program Strategy and Governance. This role provides hands-on exposure to AML regulations, AML Strategy and Governance, Risk Assessment, Remediation, Exam Management, and AML regulatory compliance within a banking environment.
Responsibilities

Supports Lead Advisor on quarterly reporting process for AMLTF Program reporting to the Board of Directors. Help to collect information from various stakeholders to develop the quarterly CAMLO report for the Board of Directors for CAMLO review and approval.

Supports maintenance of reporting calendar and ensure timeliness of submission to appropriate committees and Board;
-
Supports the management of AMLTF Program Management meetings (e.g. committee, management, board meetings, etc.) as required. Facilitates development and approval of agendas, gathering and distribution of documentation related to agendas, and creation of meeting minutes/output as required.

Support the Senior Manager, AMLTF Program Risk Assessment & Models on the Enterprise-Wide AML Risk Assessment (EWRA) when required.

Assists in maintaining oversight of the Regulatory Watch processes for the AMLTF Program and reporting of upcoming Regulatory obligations;

Assist and support the development and enhancement of the AMLTF Program Management framework. Activities may include supporting policy/standard/operating procedures lifecycle management, and education/training assessment, development & delivery;

Assists with the drafting of various regulatory compliance reports for management and regulatory authorities, including working with the Assistant Chief AML Officers (ACAMLOs), AML Advisory Team, and Regulatory Compliance Management Team on the quarterly consolidated Chief AML Officer and Chief Compliance Officer reports;

Assists in the coordination and remediation of AMLTF Program deficiencies identified by regulators, second line of defence testing, Internal Audit, and other examiners;

Applies broad industry knowledge and business acumen to drive ongoing regulatory compliance and advocate for operational efficiencies and simplification where possible;

Assists the Lead Advisor and CAMLO in the development and execution of strategic priorities and AMLTF Program Roadmap;

Develops and maintains effective and collaborative working relationships with the Regulatory Compliance teams, lines of business, Internal Audit, Legal Affairs, risk, corporate functions, senior management and stakeholders;

Foster and maintain a positive team culture translating into strong Employee Engagement Scores. Responsible for supporting and sustaining a diverse and inclusive work environment ;

Exercises judgment on moderately complex decisions falling within standard policies and regulatory requirements; typically expected to resolve many day-to-day issues and/or escalate with appropriate analysis and recommendation; Raises contentious issues with recommendations;

Proactively identifies risks and potential problems and communicates appropriately to stakeholders;

Effective oral and written communicator and decision-maker, who communicates effectively by adapting own style and delivery to audience. Consistently demonstrates all corporate values. Interest in developing others; Capable conflict resolution and negotiation. Handles stress of workload with assurance and calm necessary to inspire confidence; and

Communicates difficult concepts and negotiates with others to adopt a different point of view.

Stay informed about AML regulations, typologies, and internal procedures.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in: Finance, Accounting, Economics, Law or related
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
- Basic understanding of AML, financial crime, or banking operations (preferred)
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred skills & competencies
- Interest in compliance, risk management, or financial crime prevention
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Comfortable working with large volumes of data
- Knowledge of AML concepts (e.g., money laundering, terrorism financing) is an asset
