Overview:

EHN is seeking an Assistant Controller to support the Controller in overseeing the organization’s accounting operations and financial close processes. This is a hands on, roll up your sleeves role requiring strong technical accounting expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast paced, evolving environment.

The Assistant Controller will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and scalable accounting processes, while actively participating in day‑to‑day execution.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations & Close

  • Actively participate in and support themonthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial results.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with preparation of internal and external financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Support consolidation and reporting for amulti‑site organization.

Technical Accounting & Controls

  • Ensure appropriate accounting treatment for complex transactions.
  • Support maintenance and enhancement ofinternal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
  • Assist with accounting for accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Partner with the Controller on technical accounting research and documentation.

Audit & Compliance

  • Serve as a key point of contact forexternal auditors, supporting audit planning, requests, and issue resolution.
  • Assist with year‑end audit and other regulatory or compliance requirements.
  • Maintain strong audit readiness through clear documentation and reconciliations.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Support accounting systems and process improvements, including automation and standardization initiatives.
  • Partner with Finance and IT to improve data accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Assist with ERP enhancements and related system improvements as needed.

Team Support & Collaboration

  • Provide guidance and support to accounting team members as appropriate.
  • Partner with FP&A, Finance Operations, and business stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and support reporting needs.
  • Contribute to special projects and ad‑hoc analysis as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • CPA designation required.
  • 6–10 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Big 4 audit experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in multi entity or multi site organizations preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP/ASPE, financial close processes, and internal controls.
  • NetSuite experience is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills including PowerQuery and strong attention to detail.
  • Willingness and ability to be highly hands on while supporting a growing organization.

  • Well documented accounting processes and clear audit trails.
  • Improved efficiency and consistency across accounting activities.
  • Strong partnership with the Controller and broader finance team.
  • High audit readiness with minimal findings or surprises.
