POSITION DETAILS:

  • Please note: this posting is for a role we hire for regularly. While there may not be a current immediate vacancy, we accept applications on an ongoing basis to ensure we're ready to move quickly when a position becomes available.

  • Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

  • Salary Range: $45,000 - $60,000 per year

  • Location: Peterborough, Ontario | Burnaby, BC | Saskatoon, SK

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:

Reports to the Controller. Supports the entire Univerus accounting function, assisting with standardized financial reporting and operating procedures for Business Units, and collaborating across departments to ensure accurate and timely financial data.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

As our operations expand, we are looking for motivated and qualified people who want to work for a fast-growing and exciting company. We are looking for an Intermediate Accountant to support our accounting functions with the Univerus organization and its affiliated business units. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform full-cycle accounting, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank/visa reconciliation, invoicing, and wire/ACH/EFT payments.
  • Assist in month-end reporting, including labour cost allocation, business unit reports, intercompany reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare and reconcile journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Analyze financial data and assist in the preparation of financial forecasts.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Identify, monitor, and report on key financial operating metrics at the Business Unit and consolidated level.
  • Recommend changes that impact targets for growth, profitability, and working capital.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience in firm or industry.
  • Currently enrolled in the CPA PEP program.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with accounting software (asset).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience in firm or industry.
  • Currently enrolled in the CPA PEP program.
