Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to join our Program and Construction Management team. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in project coordination or assistant project management.
The APM will support Project Managers in delivering successful projects through strong client engagement, leadership, and effective oversight. You will help manage project activities, expectations, and risks while guiding clients through all phases of the project life cycle. A solid understanding of the construction industry and project management tools is essential, along with the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills are critical. You will apply your technical and organizational strengths across key project management areas including integration, scope, schedule, cost, quality, communications, risk, and procurement.
Your Key Responsibilities
Working collaboratively with Project Managers to manage the following responsibilities:
- Actively manage diverse programs and projects of varying size and complexity through the entire project lifecycle.
- Identify and manage priorities, risks, issues, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Provide day-to-day program and project oversight and communication with the client and project team.
- Understand contracts and delivery methods and assist with the negotiation of contracts.
- Develop, track, update, forecast and modify program and project schedules.
- Review and track all contracts, invoices, and payments to all contractors, consultants, and vendors and prepare reports for clients and other stakeholders.
- Manage change order process for scope, schedule and budget variance and assist in resolving disputes and claims.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the HSSE management system on assigned projects.
- Provide expert advice, training and recommendations on project management standards, governance, and procedures to continuously improve project management practices.
- Act as an ambassador of the company in all interactions with clients, consultants, and peers.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Project coordination and multi-disciplinary team leadership experience are essential to the role.
- Knowledge and experience in energy and resources is considered an asset.
- Strong leadership skills & the ability to move a team forward.
- Ability to manage stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to perform well under the pressure of deadlines.
- Adapt to a dynamic project environment and can manage multiple tasks over an extended period.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactively identify risks and determine their impact on the program or project with a proven ability to mitigate or resolve in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with clients, internal teams, and contractors.
- Experience with budget management.
- Understanding of plans, contracts, and specifications.
Education and Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of engineering related project experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Engineering degree/technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in a related field: or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- P.Eng, PMP certification, or an equivalent designation is an asset.

**Pay Transparency:**In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
