The opportunity
Tata Steel Minerals Canada is currently seeking an Industrial Electrician (Red Seal) to join their team to work on a Fly-in/Fly-out basis of 2 weeks On/Off with a standard 12 hours/day schedule**,** to and from the Menihek region in Labrador, near the town of Schefferville, QC. Operations at our mine site are running 24/7 all year long.
Travel to site and meals and accommodations while on site are coordinated and provided by TSMC. The main pick-up points are St. John’s, Gander, Deer Lake, Happy Valley-Goose Bay in NL, Halifax, NS, Moncton, NB, and Montreal, QC.
Reporting to the Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor, the Electrician will assist Operations and Maintenance teams by providing technical support in the instrument, control and automation areas.
This s a permanent position on a 2 week on/off rotation to and from the Schefferville, QC/Menihek region in Labrador, near the town of Schefferville Québec.
Key Responsibilities
- Installs, maintain and troubleshoot any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, power circuit breakers, vacuum breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.
- Execute preventative and predictive maintenance programs for Electrical Systems.
- Participate in failure analysis.
- Work effectively in a team environment.
Required Qualifications
- Qualified Industrial Electrician with a valid Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman ticket.
- Experience with demonstrated competence in heavy industrial continuous-process environment.
- High Voltage experience (up to 4.16kv).
- Experience with remote site power generation, a definite asset.
- Related industry experience, a definite asset.
- Demonstrates a safety-conscious approach to work.
- Good computer knowledge, communication, and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or in collaboration with others.
- Ability to use drawings or manuals if required for repairs or troubleshooting.
- Able to work on site on a Fly-in/Fly-out schedule.
