Food Service Supervisor
About the role
OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP
- Supervise daily food service operations, including food preparation, merchandising, service, and sanitation.
- Coordinate staff schedules and assign duties to ensure adequate coverage and efficient workflow.
- Monitor service standards and address operational issues in a timely manner.
- Support catering, special events, conferences, and hospitality functions as required.
- Ensure all opening, closing, and cash-handling procedures are completed accurately.
TEAM SUPERVISION AND DEVELOPMENT
- Lead, coach, and motivate frontline associates to deliver excellent customer service.
- Conduct training and orientation for new employees on company policies, food safety standards, and operational procedures.
- Monitor employee performance and provide ongoing feedback and coaching.
- Assist management with recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, attendance management, and performance evaluations.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture.
FOOD SAFETY AND QUALITY ASSURANCE
- Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations, public health requirements, and Compass Group standards.
- Monitor food quality, presentation, portion control, and product freshness.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all food preparation, storage, and service areas.
- Ensure proper receiving, storage, labeling, and rotation of food products using FIFO principles.
- Support food safety audits and corrective action plans.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by responding professionally to customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback.
- Build positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, guests, and clients.
- Resolve service issues promptly and effectively.
- Promote hospitality-focused service and create a welcoming dining environment.
INVENTORY AND FINANCIAL CONTROLS
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, receiving, and stock control.
- Monitor food, beverage, and supply usage to minimize waste and control costs.
- Verify cash handling, point-of-sale transactions, deposits, and related reporting procedures.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
- Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation.
- Conduct workplace inspections and identify potential hazards.
- Ensure associates follow safe work practices and use equipment properly.
- Report accidents, incidents, and workplace concerns according to company procedures.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

- Complete required operational reports, logs, and documentation accurately and on time.
- Assist with implementation of company initiatives, programs, and operational improvements.
- Maintain knowledge of company policies, procedures, and brand standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
