About the role
We are looking for engineers with expertise in financial software and systems to write, review, and validate API prompts for use in accounting and insurance workflows.
Your expertise in supporting financial, insurance, or real estate platforms—from accounting software to policy management systems—will ensure each prompt and response reflects how real-world engineers build and maintain core systems in finance-driven domains. You’ll help shape how AI understands technical workflows involving reporting systems, digital claims platforms, billing engines, and transaction auditing - ideally including experience with API-based integration such as Xero, QuickBooks APIs, ACORD standards, or MLS data feeds .
You are a good fit if you:
- Have over 3+ years of professional experience supporting financial, insurance, or real estate technology platforms as a software, backend, or integration engineer
- Have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance Technology, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Are currently based in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, UK, or Australia
- Have supported or maintained systems related to accounting automation, claims processing, billing portals, underwriting tools, or listing databases
- Are familiar with handling structured financial data, configuring secure workflows, logging audits, or supporting compliance-heavy environments
- Can write clearly and precisely about data flows, integration logic, and technical decisions
Role Highlights
- Flexible workload: 10–20 hours per week, with potential to increase to 40 hours.
- Fully remote and asynchronous—work on your own schedule.
- Minimum duration: 1–2 months, with potential for extension.
Role Start Date
- This role will begin in mid to late-August with applications reviewed on a rolling basis.
Interview Process
- You will take an AI interview where you will be asked questions about your background in financial systems, integration engineering, and technical documentation.
- You will share your screen and write a detailed prompt to generate an AI response about a finance or accounting software scenario.
- You will evaluate and compare LLM outputs to determine which response is more effective and accurate.
- Applicants will be selected based on their performance in the AI interview and on the accuracy and quality of their evaluations.
Compensation and Legal Details
- You will be legally classified as an hourly contractor for Mercor
- We will pay you out at the end of each week via Stripe Connect
