About the role

Job Description:

As an Automation Intern on the Data Development team at Environics Analytics, you will play a key role in enhancing and modernizing data workflows by writing SQL and Python scripts. You’ll work closely with a dynamic team of data developers, analysts, and product managers to streamline legacy processes and automate recurring data tasks. This is an ideal opportunity for students who are passionate about data, coding, and making a real impact through operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in updating and refactoring legacy workflows using SQL and Python.
  • Write scripts to automate recurring data tasks and quality control checks.
  • Document code and processes to ensure knowledge transfer and repeatability.
  • Participate in team scrums, sprint planning, and code reviews.
  • Support the team with quality control of demographic and financial data products.
  • Investigate opportunities to streamline existing data pipelines.
  • Learn and apply EA’s methodologies, tools, and data product structure.
  • Use version control systems (Azure DevOps/Git) for collaborative development.
  • Maintain and organize shared documentation using SharePoint.

  • Practical experience in data engineering and automation.
  • Exposure to large-scale demographic and financial datasets.
  • Insight into product development lifecycle at a leading data and analytics firm.
  • Collaborative practices in agile development and version control.

Tools such as Visual Studio, Anaconda, MS SQL Server, and EA’s internal resources.

  • Best practices in quality control and data integrity.

Qualifications:

Education: Enrolled in or recently completed an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.

Skills:

  • Familiarity with SQL and Python; ability to write, read, and debug scripts.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn.
  • Detail-oriented with good documentation and communication habits.
  • Experience with version control systems or a willingness to learn (e.g., Git, ADO).
  • Interest in data workflows, automation, and process improvement.

Bonus Skills:

  • Familiarity with ETL processes and APIs.
  • Experience with dashboards and data visualizations.
  • Exposure to concepts in geography, demographics, or economics.
  • Familiarity with pandas.
