Job Summary
Reporting to the Project lead, the Research Scientist will lead a research program focused on understanding how metabolism regulates immunity in the context of vaccine response. The role will lead, supervise, and innovate research and development of mass spectrometry based multi-omics analysis to characterize metabolic-immune interactions across a variety of in vitro, pre-clinical and clinical models. By working within a collaborative, multi-institutional network, the position will contribute to advancing translational discoveries.
Key Responsibilities
-
Lead the design, development, and execution of advanced LC‑MS–based research programmes using human and animal models to address complex scientific questions.

Drive the development and integration of metabolomic and proteomic methodologies, including sample preparation, chromatography, mass spectrometry, and multi-omic data interpretation.

Provide scientific leadership in the analysis and integration of large-scale datasets, applying bioinformatic and computational approaches to generate novel insights in immunometabolic pathways.

Oversee research operations, including stewardship of laboratory, instrumentation, and data resources, ensuring compliance with ethical, biosafety, and quality standards.

Lead dissemination and knowledge translation activities, including authoring high-impact publications, securing research funding, and engaging collaborators across multidisciplinary and multi-institutional teams.
Note
Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.
Required Qualifications
-
PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field, with at least five to seven years’ of research experience in metabolomics and/or proteomics (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).

Demonstrated expertise in design of sample preparation, chromatography, mass spectrometry and data analysis for a wide range of metabolite and/or protein classes as demonstrated by publications in high-impact journals.

Expert technical knowledge immunometabolic pathways and the application of multi-omics in pathology and biotechnology.

Demonstrated leadership, mentorship and supervisory experience.

Excellent scientific communication skills, including manuscript preparation and presentation, as well as strong organizational, problem-solving, and collaborative abilities to work effectively within multidisciplinary and multi-institutional research teams.
