About the role

Job Description The IPMS Team Lead, Electrical Engineering will lead a dynamic team of engineers responsible for the design, development, and implementation of the Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) and related subsystems for the Arctic Offshore Patrol Ship (AOPS) and River Class Destroyer (RCD) projects.

This leadership role combines technical expertise in electrical systems with strong team management skills to ensure the successful delivery of innovative solutions that meet program requirements and timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise IPMS team members and embedded contractors, ensuring effective coordination and mentoring of junior engineers.
  • Oversee subcontractor development of design deliverables and technical purchase specifications for IPMS systems.
  • Participate in Platform Delivery Teams (PDT) to support design development and integration.
  • Review IPMS system content during technical design reviews and provide expert guidance.
  • Engage in negotiations with equipment and material vendors.
  • Assist in developing and implementing test plans, procedures, and requirements verification tracking.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to foster strong relationships.
  • Drive design and process improvements to enhance vessel producibility, shipyard safety, and production performance.
  • Support change management and risk mitigation strategies within IPMS scope.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation or eligibility.
  • 8+ years of experience in design and integration of complex electrical systems.
  • 2+ years of experience leading technical teams and managing task assignments.
  • 2+ years managing projects and/or subcontractors.
  • Expertise in marine electrical systems, including shipboard electrical control systems and platform integration.
  • Experience defining performance and environmental requirements for electrical equipment and systems.
  • Proven ability to prepare technical specifications and implement test plans for electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with classification society rules and achieving plan approval.
