About the role

As ATB’s next Senior Manager, Strategic Sourcing for Banking and Corporate Services, you will work in the Strategic Sourcing team with a focus on renewals and overseeing RF(X)’s for the banking and corporate services business areas. You will be the go-to coach for other team members supporting contracting and RF(X)’s. You will have a curiosity that will help you to listen to your business areas, an aptitude for continuous learning, and the perseverance to deliver on the business’ needs. You will demonstrate a high proficiency of knowledge in public procurement, contracts, as well as strategic sourcing.

Accountabilities

  • Partner with the Director, Strategic Sourcing in setting the vision and sourcing strategies of the categories, in alignment with ATB corporate strategy and objectives
  • Support the establishment of a consistent source to contract experience, and sourcing and negotiation practices that ensure:
    • An optimal deal is negotiated and quantifiable value is created (ex. cycle time, experience rating, dollar value creation)
    • Timely execution of sourcing and renewals
    • Appropriate input into budgets and forecasts for new contracts and renewals
  • Lead and accountable for the entire end-to-end contracting process for complex agreements and renewals including but not limited to:
    • Terms and conditions review and recommendations
    • Cross-functional coordination to ensure appropriate review, input and alignment from required stakeholders
    • Develop strategy for and lead negotiations
    • Ensure regular updates to required executive stakeholders on contracting process status
    • Document material risks
  • Resolve complex sourcing issues, including contractual terms and conditions, third party escalations, and escalations from business areas
  • Support the improvement of third party policies, standards and procedures, and provide advice and share knowledge and best practices with respect to the third party compliance, risk, financial, and performance management functions
  • Provide inputs for category development and management of critical and strategically aligned third parties
  • Collaborate with the Third Party Management team (TPM) to maintain consistency across contract history and ensure this is reflected in sourcing/contracting engagements and amendments/renewals
  • Manage public procurement processes within a competitive environment
  • Oversee the facilitation and execution of the purchase-to-pay process

Skills, experience & requirements

Core Technical Skills

  • Preferred 7-10 years experience in contract management and strategic sourcing (executing or leading)
  • Operational reporting as well as public procurement practices within the space
  • Superior negotiation skills and attention to detail balanced with strategic approach and view
  • Advanced skills In third party strategy and governance, organizational alignment, risk management
  • Intermediate skills in category management, document management, data interpretation and communication

Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively build relationships and manage multiple stakeholders in a dynamic environment
  • Passion for mentoring and training team members

Certifications

  • University degree in Business or a post-secondary accreditation in a related field
  • A professional designation is considered an asset (eg. SCMP, ITIL, CSAM or IAITAM certification)
