General Accountant (Manufacturing &Inventory Experience)
Job Summary:
We are searching for an experienced Accountant to join the Cardinal team.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accountant will be a key member of the Finance team. The main focus will be to support one of Cardinal’s key businesses, Global Sensor Systems Inc. (“GSS”). Extensive experience with inventory management within a manufacturing environment.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Preparation of recurring journal entries, payroll entries, and accruals
- Maintaining up to-date and accurate electronic records of inventory for Global Sensor Systems Inc (GSS) including:
- Routine inventory reconciliation and analysis
- Manage inventory records and ensure accuracy of inventory levels
- Maintain and update inventory control systems
- Monitor inventory movements and ensure compliance with company policies
- Conduct physical inventory audits and report any discrepancies
- Coordinate with warehouse personnel to ensure accurate inventory tracking
- Develop and implement inventory management procedures
- Provide recommendations to reduce obsolete and excess inventory
- Ensure accurate and timely inventory reporting to management

- Creating and sending invoices to customers
- Process the month end close by ensuring timely and accurate completion of the monthly close processes for all assigned corporate entities, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and other supporting schedules
- Monthly reconciliation of sub-ledgers to general ledger of both Balance Sheet and P&L accounts to ensure accurate reflection of company assets in the monthly financial statements and other management reports

- Maintain reconciliations and schedules for bank, prepaids, inter-company, fixed assets, accrued liabilities, and/or other assigned accounts
- Perform monthly analysis with detailed explanations validating key variances for Actuals in comparison to Budget, Previous year, and Previous month
- Preparation of annual budget lead sheets and supporting schedules
- Prepare and/or compile schedules and support required for internal and financial year-end audits and quarterly reviews
- Prepare commodity or sales tax returns
- Preparation of Government Statutory Remittances

- Requirements:
- University degree in Business or Accounting and minimum five (5) years of accounting experience in Canada, with a minimum of three (3) years within manufacturing, including inventory management
- Completed or are near completing your CPA designation
- Advanced-level Excel skills
- Experience in major accounting software programs such as Business Central, Great Plains and Management Reporter
- Outstanding written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills, able to interact across multiple stakeholders at various levels in the organization
- Self-starter with a strong sense of personal accountability and ownership in their work
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple demands and meet deadlines
- High standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information
- Ability to exercise good judgment, show initiative, and be proactive
- Impeccable attention to detail
