What you’ll do:

- Clean the OR at the start of the day, in between patients, and perform a final clean at the end of day
- Assist physician with any and all cosmetic surgical procedures
- With the appropriate knowledge, skill, and judgement, the OR Nurse may be required to assist the surgeon with suturing, suture removal, and application of dressings and compression garments
- May be required to start an intravenous and administer medication
- Gather all supplies needed to do surgery and set up the OR
- Count controlled medications with a second nurse at the start and end of the OR Day
- Responsible for performing multiple meticulous surgical counts at required intervals
- Assume duties, within or outside of the sterile field as required
- Critically assess patients to identify appropriate nursing interventions
- Always maintain quality service by following organizational standards
- Collaborate to plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate patient care
- Communicate findings with appropriate physician(s)
What you will bring along:

- Must have an Operating Room course certificate
- Must be in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Excellent attention to detail
- Completion of legislated Health and Safety training and WHMIS training courses
- Ability to quickly build good rapport with patients and members of the Operating Room Team
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care, in line with GraceMed’s values.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient ability using technology and software: EMR (Electronic Medical Records), PMS (Patient Management Systems) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong time management, organizational skills, and the ability to problem solve and multi-task with the team
- Solid understanding of patient safety and precautions
- Demonstrate the knowledge, skill and judgement to critically assess, identify and intervene with changes in patient condition
- Membership Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) with Professional Liability Protection (PLP) or CNO approved PLP is required
- Must be BLS certified
- ACLS certification is considered and asset and will be required after hire
