Job Summary Introba’s Climate Team works with local governments, states, federal agencies, educational and other public-serving institutions, as well as portfolio holders of various kinds to help set and achieve low-carbon resilience goals in the built environment. We work with ambitious clients throughout North America who need our expertise in charting a path to zero emissions & climate readiness, drawing on a combination of our team’s technical, engagement, and policy development skillsets. We are seeking an Associate - Decarbonization to join our growing team. The Associate - Decarbonization supports Introba’s Climate Team on a wide variety of projects focused primarily on strategic climate change/decarbonization planning for campuses, municipalities, provinces and utilities, and energy efficiency and emissions reduction policy development in the built environment/building sector.
Our ideal candidate is an excellent problem solver, a critical thinker, comfortable contributing to team discussions, independently leads successful proposals, professional in conduct with clients, and able to learn and apply new concepts quickly. An excellent communicator and climate policy expert, the Associate - Decarbonization will be involved in our team’s primary business of facilitating collaborative problem-solving efforts, as well as researching and drafting reports.
Responsibilities & Qualifications Key Accountabilities
- Takes full ownership of successful project delivery, including technical quality (QA/QC processes) and tracking/management of timeliness and financial performance
- Leads and takes full responsibility for the development of winning / high quality project proposals. Actively contributes to growing the business
- Is a discipline lead on projects with minimal peer/technical support required
- Delegates to and trains more junior team members. Is an active role model for team and office culture and promotes an inclusive workplace
- Is accountable for workload planning and forecasting of their projects
- Actively contributes to strategic team initiatives to improve the quality of service, products, and systems to meet client's requirements, and maximize the team’s competitive position
- Acts as the team representative and maintains good relationships with clients, project stakeholders, associations, government bodies and other entities
- Builds and manages their own key clients and monitors key pursuits/opportunities
- Actively contributes to keeping team performance at or above the annual plan
Knowledge

Expert understanding of policies, practices, research, and trends relevant to the low carbon resilient built environment

Advanced understanding of the sources of, and strategies for, reducing energy and emissions at building, portfolio, campus, and/or broader scales

Extensive experience building spreadsheet models/tools for building/portfolio/community energy/emissions analysis

Expert understanding of financial assessment methodologies (e.g. LCCA, cost-benefit analysis). Knowledge on valuation systems/methodologies for low carbon/sustainable/resilient buildings and infrastructure is considered an asset

Holistic understanding of global sustainability issues, including current leaders and best practices in net-zero energy/emissions and low-carbon resilient buildings and/or communities

Experience in conducting research and analysis of climate change and sustainability issues as they apply to the built environment specifically

Familiar with climate resilience concepts, principles and methods
Qualifications And Experience
- 6+ years consulting experience in building/portfolio decarbonization and/or climate policy/planning
- Has been the technical lead for high impact/responsibility projects
- University degree, college/technology diploma in Engineering, Planning, or related
Additional Information Introba is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $100,000 - $110,000 annually for this position and local market.
