About the Role
Bright Lights For Africa Foundation is seeking caring, reliable, and community-minded volunteers to support a variety of programs, events, food security activities, and community initiatives.
This is a general volunteer opportunity for individuals who are interested in serving the community, helping with different projects, and contributing their time and skills where needed.
Volunteers may support food sorting and packing, hamper preparation, event setup, program registration, welcoming participants, ushering, organizing supplies, community outreach, clean-up, administrative support, and other activities connected to BLFA’s programs.
No specific previous experience is required. BLFA will provide orientation, guidance, and task-specific training based on the volunteer assignment.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to give back, meet people, gain experience, support local initiatives, and contribute to programs that serve families, newcomers, youth, seniors, women, and underserved communities.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with program and event setup. Support participant registration and sign-in. Welcome participants, guests, and community members. Support ushering and participant flow during events or programs. Assist with food sorting, food packing, hamper preparation, and food distribution activities. Help organize supplies, program materials, and shared spaces. Support community outreach and engagement activities. Assist with basic administrative tasks when needed. Help with clean-up after programs, workshops, events, or food activities. Follow instructions from BLFA staff, the Volunteer Coordinator, or the assigned team lead. Respect confidentiality, participant dignity, and BLFA’s volunteer guidelines.
Requirements
No specific experience is required. Training and orientation will be provided.
The ideal volunteer should be respectful, reliable, friendly, flexible, willing to help, able to follow instructions, comfortable working with a team, and passionate about community service.
Volunteers should be able to represent BLFA with kindness, professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and respect for diverse communities.
