What is the opportunity?
RBC Capital Markets is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Capital Markets Implementation Manager (Project Manager) to lead and drive a dedicated project workstream of a large strategic initiative within the middle office, settlements, and clearing domains. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing multiple deliverables that involve complex business processes, multiple stakeholders, and both vendor and in-house IT teams. This position requires a strong blend of capital markets expertise, operational understanding, and project management proficiency
What will you do?
Project Leadership:
- Lead end-to-end project delivery, ensuring alignment with business objectives, timelines, and budgets.
- Manage the full project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Identify and mitigate project risk, resolve issues, and ensure successful delivery of key milestones.
Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across middle office, settlements, and clearing teams to understand business requirements and align project outcomes.
- Act as a liaison between business units, in-house IT teams, and external vendors to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
- Manage competing priorities and expectations across diverse stakeholder groups.
Capital Markets Expertise:
- Apply deep knowledge of capital markets, particularly in middle office operations, trade settlements, and clearing processes, to drive relevant solutions.
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to align projects with evolving business needs.
Vendor and IT Collaboration:
- Coordinate with external vendors to ensure timely delivery of solutions, adherence to contractual obligations, and alignment with RBC’s standards.
- Partner with in-house IT teams to integrate vendor solutions with RBC’s systems and infrastructure.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and post-implementation reviews.
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership, including the program lead, on project progress, risks, and outcomes.
Delivery Tools & Frameworks:
- Support the adoption of enterprise tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Planview) to enhance delivery.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
- Good working knowledge of Capital Markets operational functions and processes, particularly in Settlements and Clearing.
- Detailed understanding of the fundamentals of Capital Markets trading and the transaction lifecycle
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in project management within the Capital Markets domain.
- Strong expertise in middle office, settlements, and clearing processes.
- Proven track record of successfully leading projects involving both vendor solutions and in-house IT teams.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience in Finance, Engineering, Science or Math
- Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., JIRA, MS Project).
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and apply delivery frameworks to achieve successful outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with a focus on influencing outcomes and building partnerships with senior leaders and vendors.
- Experience in project financial management, including budget planning, forecasting, and cost-benefit analysis.
- Proficient in risk and issue management, including conducting assessments and developing mitigation strategies.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, including tailoring messages and leading discussions with senior audiences.
Nice to have:
- PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification.
- Strong Knowledge of supporting systems within Operations (TOMS, Murex, Apex, RIMMS, RATS, ICI)
- Experience working in a global financial institution or within a highly regulated environment.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements impacting capital markets operations.
- Strong understanding of technology platforms and systems used in capital markets operations.
