The Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) Program is an aircrew training program to prepare pilots, Air Combat Systems Operators, and Airborne Electronic Sensor Operators to meet the future aerospace requirements of the Royal Canadian Air Force. As part of the SkyAlyne Team, KF Aerospace will operate an Acceptable Technical Organization (ATO) acting as the Military Type Certificate Holder for the five fleets of training aircraft.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Deputy Program Manager will support the Project Manager in the execution and coordination of all project activities.

Our ideal candidate must have the ability to support the project management process of large, complex projects, with a positive attitude and strong work ethic. They will use their organizational skills and attention to detail to communicate project goals and milestones and to identify, escalate and address any areas putting project status at risk.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate with the KFL airworthiness management team, including subject matter experts from Business Development, project management, commercial management, training solution development and engineering.
  • Provide support for overall Program Management for the KFL FAcT workshare and Project Management for the FAcT Aircraft Acquisition portfolio.
  • Interface with customers and strategic suppliers, as required.
  • Assist the Project Manager in tracking project milestones, deliverables, and schedules.
  • Assist with developing proposals and by supporting commercial activities
  • Track project financial progress and support milestone payment activities
  • Prepare reports, meeting minutes, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate cross-functional team activities, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Manage project-related procurement processes, vendor communication, and task assignments.
  • Maintain & update Gantt charts throughout the course of the project to assist in project schedule management.
  • Assist with maintaining Risks and Issues Registers and track and manage all assigned actions.
  • Monitor and track escalations.
  • Travel is required to other KF locations, nationally and internationally to interact with OEM’s.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of a University Engineering, Science program, or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience in project management preferred.
  • Be a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) recognized by Project Management International (PMI) with a willingness to work towards obtaining PgMP (Program Management Professional).
  • Experience with configuration management processes in a technical or engineering environment is a plus.
  • Familiarity with contract management software and project management tools (e.g., SharePoint, Teams and MS Project) is required.
  • Strong understanding of Project Management Principles as described in the PMI Project Management, Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
  • Due to security clearance requirements, must be a Canadian citizen or have PR status.
  • Must be able to gain and obtain Secret Security Clearance.

  • Demonstrated strong organizational and leadership skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience working within the aerospace domain
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative along with effective decision-making skills. All within a very unstructured environment
  • Ability to interpret contracts, compliance requirements, and risk assessments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in regulated industries (e.g., aerospace, healthcare, construction, or government projects) is beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Note: This position is based in Ottawa, ON. Hybrid/Remote work options available, depending on project requirements. The ideal candidate would be eventually based in Ottawa, ON. Regular travel is required for project meetings, audits, or site visits.

SALARY

The wage band is Level 9, $73,000 - $91,000. The expertise and technical skill level of the candidate is assessed during the selection process for placement within the band. Note: The salary range maximum signifies full job knowledge.
