About the role

Our client, an industry leader, is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Financial Accountant to support the Financial Controller in overseeing the company’s financial activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in daily financial operations, month-end and year-end processes, the preparation of financial statements, and supporting audit activities. This role offers an excellent opportunity for accounting professionals looking to broaden their skills in a dynamic environment. CPA designation or pursuit is preferred but not required based on the candidates experience level.

Key Responsibilities: Assist the Financial Controller with daily accounting activities, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports. Maintain accurate and organized financial records in compliance with company policies and relevant accounting standards. Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, account analysis, and reconciliations. Prepare working papers and documentation required for annual external audits. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to resolve discrepancies and address financial queries. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis as requested by management. Ensure adherence to internal controls and contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes. Monitor project costs and ensure proper allocation of expenses in line with construction project requirements. Stay updated on industry regulations, GAAP, and relevant tax matters affecting the construction industry.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Public practice with industry mix is ideal. Directly from public practice is also acceptable 3+ years of accounting experience Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, or similar platforms). Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize tasks, work under deadlines, and manage multiple projects. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. CPA or pursuing CPA designation is preferred but not required.
