Human Resources Under the direction of NAIT’s General Counsel, this position will assist with the provision of a full range of legal services for NAIT, including:
- Provision of verbal and written advice to internal clients at all levels of the organization, on a wide array of diverse legal matters
- Drafting, reviewing, and participating in the negotiation of various contracts with suppliers, government departments, other institutions, clients, industry partners, and other parties (e.g., applied research agreements, software agreements, funding agreements, donation/endowment agreements, lease agreements, memoranda of understanding, practicum/work experience agreements, facilities contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and purchasing agreements arising from RFP awards).
- Provision of advice on matters of governance, policies, bylaws, legislative compliance, ethics, risk mitigation, litigation, administrative tribunals, and regulatory matters.
- Fulfilling an advocacy role in resolution of disputes involving administrative tribunals or which may lead to litigation.

Qualifications:

The position requires a Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) or Juris Doctor (J.D.), and active membership or eligibility for active membership with the Law Society of Alberta.

Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a lawyer.

Experience with public procurement law and/or intellectual property/research law are strong asset
-
Experience in corporate/commercial law and/or trust law are assets
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: From $148,000.00, based on qualifications and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package
