QA / QC Coordinator – Precast Concrete

Reports To: Director of Operations / Production Manager

Location: York Precast Inc. Production Facility

Position Summary

TheQA / QC Coordinatoris responsible for ensuring that all precast concrete products meet required quality standards, engineering specifications, and industry codes. This role oversees quality assurance and quality control processes throughout the production cycle including raw materials, concrete batching, fabrication, curing, and final product inspection.

The QA / QC Coordinator works closely with production teams, batch plant operators, and management to maintain consistent product quality while supporting continuous improvement within the plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures for precast production.

  • Inspect raw materials including aggregates, cement, admixtures, and reinforcement.

  • Perform and document quality tests on fresh and hardened concrete.

  • Verify concrete mix designs are followed during batching operations.

  • Inspect forms, reinforcing placement, embeds, and hardware prior to concrete placement.

  • Monitor curing processes to ensure proper strength development.

  • Perform dimensional inspections and quality checks on finished precast products.

  • Identify defects, damage, or non‑conforming products and coordinate corrective actions.

  • Maintain quality documentation including inspection reports, test results, and compliance records.

  • Work with production teams to improve quality processes and reduce defects.

  • Support development of new mix designs and production methods with engineering staff.

  • Assist with troubleshooting quality issues related to materials or production processes.

  • Ensure compliance with CSA, PCI, or other relevant precast industry standards.

  • Participate in plant safety initiatives and maintain safe work practices.

  • Assist with customer or third‑party inspections when required.

  • Provide feedback and training to production staff regarding quality standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License with reliable transportation.

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in precast concrete, manufacturing, construction, or other related industry.

  • Strong understanding of concrete materials, mix designs, and precast production processes.

  • Ability to read and interpret structural engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Experience performing concrete testing and inspections.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.

  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with production and management teams.

  • Physically capable of working in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Assets

  • Previous experience in a precast concrete manufacturing facility.

  • Certification in concrete testing (CSA, ACI, or equivalent).

  • Knowledge of CSA A23.1 / A23.2 concrete standards.

  • Experience working with quality management systems.

  • Standard First Aid Certification.

  • Fall Protection Certification.
