Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director, Member Services & Engagement, the Team Lead is a program specialist who is responsible for guiding and coordinating work within the department to achieve objectives while ensuring the successful execution of departmental goals. The role requires effective leadership skills, strong communication and project management skills, along with the ability to inspire and motivate team members to perform at their best. The Team Lead plays a vital role in fostering a positive team culture and promoting collaboration, as well as in supporting the Director and MSE leadership team in ongoing organizational initiatives.
This role will also serve as a liaison to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support implementation of the MSE’s goals and objectives, including all MAPS transition activities and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Project Planning/Implementation
- Fosters a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages open communication and teamwork.
- Works in close partnership with the director and MSE leadership team to support early change adoption and identification and resolution of personnel concerns.
- Provides day-to-day operational and project support to the MSE team to inform strategic decision making.
Data Analysis and Quality Improvement
- Facilitates collaboration across internal and external teams to harmonize activities and departmental goals.
- Analyze departmental measures, metrics, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), track and monitor progress toward departmental goals for reporting.
- Development of presentations, project proposals and briefs, and planning documents with data-backed insights and visualizations.
- Continuously reviews and optimizes departmental-level processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and overall effectiveness.
- Supports the reporting of departmental measurements, metrics, and KPIs in collaboration with the MSE Leadership team to ensure progress on program goals, objectives and targets.
- Provides change management support for implementation of processes and initiatives.
- Monitors and reports on departmental quality assurance measures and projects for reporting.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, economics, or data science; A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum five years of related experience, which includes project management, change management, quality improvement, forecasting and data analysis.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience is considered an asset.
- Completion of an Indigenous relations course to assist in partnership initiatives is an asset.
Certifications
- ProSci Change management certification.
- Completion of, or working towards CAPM or PMP certification, is preferred.
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification (or equivalent) is asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams; Autonomous thinking and decision making within positional scope.
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable and thrive in a dynamic, evolving environment.
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, etc.)
- Advanced understanding and interpretation of data reports and the ability to translate data into valuable practice level QI projects.
- Advanced proficiency in project management tools, data analysis (SQL, SPSS, R), and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
- Ability to work with a high level of autonomy, attention to detail, and professionalism.
- Exceptional verbal, oral, written, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate at effectively at all organizational levels.
- Ability to excel in a team setting focused on engagement and collaboration; Demonstrating change leadership and transformation and fostering a growth mindset within the team.
