Weyerhaeuser’s Grande Prairie Lumber Mill has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Team Leader.
Role Overview
The Weekend Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for the safe, effective coordination and supervision of maintenance team members engaged in mill maintenance activities. This role plays a key leadership position in safety, reliability, and continuous improvement, while acting as a critical liaison between Operations and Maintenance.
The successful candidate will lead through personal commitment and values, fostering a strong safety and reliability culture while supporting team development, workflow efficiency, and performance improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and promote safety excellence through personal leadership, adherence to Weyerhaeuser procedures, and regulatory compliance
- Coordinate and supervise daily maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient mill operation
- Support development and engagement of maintenance team members through coaching, feedback, and accountability
- Strengthen reliability and continuous improvement by improving workflow, work execution, and cross‑functional collaboration
- Act as a key interface between Operations and Maintenance to align priorities and execution
- Track, measure, and communicate performance using standard tools and metrics
- Support planning, scheduling, and execution of work to meet internal and external customer needs
Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate:
- Industrial maintenance experience and/or maintenance‑related post‑secondary education (or equivalent combination)
- Proven ability to lead safety through personal commitment, values, and established procedures
- Basic knowledge of industrial safety procedures and regulations
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and align teams toward common goals
- Effective written, verbal, and listening communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to be a team‑oriented leader—open to ideas, valuing diverse strengths, flexible, and supportive of others
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Demonstrated facilitation and problem‑solving capability
- Experience tracking and measuring performance using standard tools and methods
- Strong planning, organization, and execution skills
- Basic understanding of business and financial concepts
- Skilled in MS Office, network applications, and CMMS (SAP-preferred)
Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $95,588 - $139,469 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 10% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.
