Tomlinson’s Materials Group is looking for a Lead Hand of the Day Shift Operations Crew at our Bruce Mines Quarry.
Location**:**9630 ON-17, Bruce Mines, ON
**Vacancy****Type:**Replacement
**Schedule:**Day shift, Monday to Friday, 10-12 hour days.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Work collaboratively and effectively with all team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Provide onsite leadership in the absence of the Foreman, ensuring production activities continue safely, efficiently, and according to operational plans.

Delegate daily tasks and support the execution of work assignments as directed by the Foreman.
-
Track and monitor inventory, materials usage, and plant needs, documenting all shift activities including repairs and upcoming maintenance requirements.

Work alongside others to ensure compliance with OHSA, company policies, and plant safety procedures.
-
Make sound, unbiased non-critical decisions independently while escalating critical issues to the Foreman.
-
Uphold and enforce all safety expectations including PPE use, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and hazard awareness.

Troubleshoot production and equipment issues using strong problem‑solving abilities.
-
Lead production-related projects around the plant, supporting planning, task coordination, and execution.

Support Foreman-led disciplinary actions, ensuring consistency and professionalism.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
-
3+ years of experience in a similar industry leadership role
-
Leadership or crew‑lead experience considered a strong asset.
-
Ability to interpret production goals and translate them into actionable tasks.
-
Strong mechanical understanding of plant equipment and production flow.
-
Knowledge of OHSA and safe work practices.
-
Effective communicator with strong organizational and decision‑making skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
-
Exposure to outdoor elements year‑round including heat, cold, snow, and rain.
-
Requires walking, climbing, standing for extended periods, and performing physical maintenance tasks as needed.
-
May require overtime, extended hours, and occasional weekend work depending on production demands
COMPENSATION INFORMATION
The expected salary range for this position is $33.50 - $35.25 per hour. Placement within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience.
