For this exciting position, we are specifically targeting students who have a background in Computer science, Engineering, Applied Sciences, and Geology, who have coding and business analysis experience. Reporting to the Manager, Applications for Engineering Solutions, the individual in this position will be responsible for providing system support and delivery to business requirements in the domain of Mine & Environmental Engineering. Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Plan and implement updates to existing systems (purchased, configured and/or developed internally) as well as new solutions in mining engineering (including but not limited to scheduling, mine planning, geology, geotechnical and environmental systems)
- Support engagement and sustainment activities for environment, geology, scheduling, and mine planning systems (including incidents, problems, defects, and improvement management)
- Coordinate efforts to deliver resources with other teams and groups within Digital Operations and Technology and Innovation department
- Test, analyze and provide quality assurance for software solutions in place for mining engineering
- Perform software design, development, unit, and integration testing
- Build systems specifications documents as well as external systems design documentation
- Provide Application support as and when required as well as Vendor Engagement to ensure resolution of support related issues
- Elicit detailed functional and non-functional requirements as well as process optimization activities to ensure business needs and requirements are collected
- Provide estimates for software development and testing and act as a lead for small to medium sized software implementations
Qualifications
- Working towards an Undergraduate bachelor's degree in Computer science, Engineering, Applied Sciences, Geology
- Proficiency with SQL and Python is required
- Previous experience with related coding and Systems and Business analysis is preferred
- Good understanding of SQL, ERD and data modelling, problem solving, software development, T-SQL, SQL Server experience with SSRS
- Proficiency with PowerBI and Azure DevOps in an asset
- Proficiency in the Spanish language is an asset
- Excellent problem solving, written and verbal communication skills
- Curious to learn more about the mining industry and Mining Engineering/Environmental Engineering systems Technical Analysis
- Ability to work efficiently independently as well as part of the team
- Proven ability to learn new technologies and platforms quickly, accurately, and efficiently, and demonstrated experience in requirements analysis and specification
- Self-directed and motivated by advanced technical and business challenges, with ability to meet several projects and work schedules simultaneously
- A strong “make it happen”, positive, flexible, and constructive mature work attitude
- Analytics and Quality Assurance, System Implementation, and support for Engineering systems
- Desktop PC support, SCCM, SCOM and software package creation and deployment experience
- Quality assurance and testing for custom developed solutions with Microsoft technology stack
- Opportunities to be involved in software development using DEVOPS, Azure Cloud enabled solutions and Data Science
- Software development experience is .NET technologies is an asset
- Open pit mining experience and/or Geology background is an asset
Pay Range: CAD $4,000 - $5,100 per month
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
