Co-Founder & CEO, New Venture: Edge Deployment and Orchestration for Energy Operators
Top Benefits
About the role
The Opportunity
Edge computing for energy operators is a fast-growing $5B+ market; we are addressing the two biggest problems: deployment and orchestration.
There are over 80,000 utility-scale energy sites operating globally, across battery storage, solar, wind, and transmission, growing quickly. Operational performance is the top priority, and operators are moving to unlock use cases like predictive maintenance, downtime reduction, and asset optimization. These run on high-volume, high-frequency sensor data that must run on the edge, not the cloud.
While a majority of IPPs and utilities have piloted edge at a single site, scaling beyond it is where projects stall, and today costs hundreds of engineering hours per site, for three reasons: Setup: each site exposes thousands of raw tags from different OEMs and SCADA systems with no shared meaning; standardizing them into a usable data model consumes hundreds of hours. Execution: running analytics on small, compute-constrained gateways requires solving a set of infrastructure problems from scratch, per workload. Orchestration: managing hundreds of edge nodes one at a time, updates, certificates, and security, does not scale, and no fleet operations layer exists for the industrial edge.
We are launching Packet.io, an operating platform that makes industrial software deployable and manageable at fleet scale. Packet is edge software, deployed as an on-site appliance, that addresses all three bottlenecks: Automated data modeling and unification: Packet connects to the systems already installed at each site, uses AI to propose a meaning for every raw tag from its naming convention and time-series behavior, and has engineers confirm each proposal, producing one canonical asset model across the fleet. Optimized on-site execution: analytics deploy against that model to every site at once and run on a minimal, purpose-built runtime that continues operating when connectivity drops. Fleet orchestration and management: operators get a single control plane for deployment, updates, certificates, and security across the entire fleet.
Packet's mission is to accelerate the deployment of edge, reduce its complexity, and ultimately increase operational efficiency for renewables across the globe.
As Co-Founder and CEO, you will lead this venture from inception to scale, shaping and executing the vision, signing the first design partners, building the team, and establishing the company as the category leader in edge fleet operations.
This venture is already significantly de-risked: the problem is validated with operators and experts across the sector, the technical and competitive groundwork is done, and the company is capitalized with a Pre-Seed.
Please note: this is not an employment opportunity at Diagram, but an opportunity in a new company created through our venture studio model.

Background & Experience
Demonstrated success in building early-stage ventures or leading 0→1 product launches Proven track record leading a business as CEO, GM, or senior executive with P&L ownership Strong experience selling complex technical products to enterprise or industrial buyers - long cycles, technical evaluation, partner channels Familiarity with energy, utilities, or industrial operations - enough to earn credibility with the engineers and operations leaders who buy the product Existing relationships with energy operators is a strong plus Track record of hiring, developing, and managing high-performing teams Strong communication skills with credibility at the C-Suite level Experience raising venture capital or strategic funding
What You’ll Get
A significant equity stake in the venture and operational freedom to define and execute your strategic vision A venture already capitalized with a Pre-Seed. Diagram also intends to lead the Seed, and reserves ample capital to participate in future fundraising rounds A Diagram-validated concept that has been extensively de-risked through deep technical, market, and competitive research The opportunity to co-found and build the business from day one, shaping go-to-market, product and company culture A collaborative co-founder throughout the journey. You’ll have direct access to Diagram and Sagard’s extensive network, and we’ll take care of the early administrative hurdles so you can focus on building the company and hitting your milestones
