Title: JDSP- Paint Prep Technician - 115781
Primary Location: Canada (CA) - British Columbia - Langley

John Deere Specialty Products is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of PAINT PREP TECNICIAN at our Langley Facility. We are looking for motivated candidates to be members of our high quality, fast-paced team!

Position Summary
In this role you will be part of a high-performance team responsible for preparing various Forestry Equipment parts for paint application.

Candidates should possess the following preferred qualifications, capabilities, and knowledge:

  • Perform work in accordance with all internal quality and safety standards
  • Prepare metal surfaces for painting according to John Deere standards; Activities include grinding, sanding, and washing surfaces
  • Move parts to be painted using forklift, tugger or by hand
  • Assist painters in masking/demasking components, paint touch up, decaling and caulking
  • Perform physical activities (sanding, grinding, washing) while wearing the required PPE (hearing protection, respirator, visor, rain gear) for prolonged periods of time
  • Ensure correct parts are prepared for paint by following production schedules
  • Report shortages and damaged product
  • Maintain a clean work environment and follow the 5S methodology
  • Contribute towards Kaizen and SCR initiatives
  • Perform required daily safety and quality checklists
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties inherent to the job

Requirements

  • Paint Prep/Finishing experience preferred
  • Experience with hand and power tools i.e. sanders, power washers
  • Experience working with and handling chemicals and hazardous materials
  • Experience with powered industrial truck operations such as Forklifts, Scissor Lifts, Order Picker, Shunt Trucks preferred
  • Ability to lift and push items up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work from heights up to 30 ft
  • Ability to climb, kneel, work above your head and in tight spaces
  • Experience with SAP or MS Office an asset
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and push up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work from heights up to 30 feet.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach and climb ladders.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with varying temperatures.

Hours of Work

  • Successful incumbents must be available to work Monday to Friday 7:00AM – 3:30PM

Additional job details:

  • Starting rate of $26.84/hour.
  • Safety equipment will be supplied
