Instructional Design Specialist

Location: Markham, Ontario
Job Description The Instructional Design Specialist is primarily responsible for developing and designing interactive blended learning programs, multi-media and other tools that align with organizational training needs, requirements and/or processes.
Salary Range: $56,000 - $65,000
Essential Details And Responsibilities
- Design, develop and update proprietary training related to processes, products, and operations functions using a variety of authoring tools and methods to produce blended learning solutions for a range of workplace environments including store, distribution center and corporate office.
- Support the assessment and identification of training needs aligned with business objectives.
- Work with learning managers and team to confirm course specifications and resolves gaps.
- Ensure accessibility (AODA) compliance and course consistency per brand standards.
- Support learning projects with cross-functional teams to create engaging blended learning for all learners.
- Self-starter able to manage competing priorities and deliver projects in a fast-paced changing environment.
- Update job aids, facilitator guides, classroom slides, participant guides, and on-the-job training material.
- Maintain an understanding of the pet industry and demonstrate working knowledge of training best practices, trends and adult learning principles.
Experience, Education, Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2-5 years of proven work experience in instructional design and eLearning development.
- 2+ years of experience using ADDIE to develop and implement training programs.
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft suite of products (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of course development software, such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Rise and Evolve
- Experience designing and editing with graphic media tools, video, audio animation/motion graphics and simulations
- Experience building virtual instructor led sessions and classroom training materials an asset.
- Strong knowledge of current trends in training and adult learning.
- CTDP or equivalent is an asset.
- Bilingualism (French) is an asset.
