Job Description :
POSITION
Champlain College Lennoxville is seeking the services of a DATA PROCESSING OPERATOR to work on a temporary, full-time basis for the department of Information Technology. This is a stage contract until May 31, 2026.
FUNCTIONS
Reporting to the Coordinator of Information Technology and working closely with the IT Team, the incumbent will be responsible of performing duties mainly related to computers and peripherals, and providing support to users.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide user-level technical support to administrative staff, faculty and students;
- Update of content on the college website;
- Troubleshoot issues for supported software, online platform and college-owed hardware;
- Maintain the hardware and software inventory and ensure the information is accurate and up-to-date;
- Provide remote assistance to participants of online classes over Teams and other platforms.
- Answer and log client telephone, email and face-to-face requests for service. Escalation of issues outside the scope of responsibility, if needed;
- Maintain, repair and clean IT hardware. Place warranty support calls for equipment and/or installation of replacement parts where required;
- Ensure the installation, maintenance and upgrading of computer and voice equipment and establishes configurations of equipment by identifying the user’s requirements using the college’s IT tools;
- Develop knowledge and keep up-to-date on new processes, procedures and technologies and maintain familiarity with materials on IT help knowledge base;
- Monitor student computer labs and ensuring that computer lab rules are followed;
- Occasionally Offer technical assistance during laboratory sessions employing specialized technologies;
- Participate in IT security by staying informed of and following security directives and ensuring best practices are followed by users;
- Perform all other related duties.
Requirements :
WORKING HOURS
Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5pm, with the possibility of deferred hours on call evenings and weekends.
Education
Must have a diploma of vocational studies (DEP) in an appropriate specialty. Or have an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority and have two (2) years of pertinent experience.
Competencies
Must possess good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate in both English and French, oral and written.
Good knowledge of Windows 11 operating systems;
Must be knowledgeable in computer programming and system analysis.
Must demonstrate good PC and Mac troubleshooting skills.
The candidate will be required to pass a French and English test.
Work Schedule : Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5pm, with the possibility of deferred hours on call evenings and weekends
Duration of contract : This is a contract until May 31, 2026
Salary Scale : $24.99-$27.95
